Touting itself as a "brewery,
pizzeria, beer shrine, and wedding chapel," The North Fork draws
a diverse clientele that includes locals as well as everyone who
plays (winter or summer) at Mount Baker. Families settle in at
wood tables next to 20-somethings, while the locals and old-timers
tend to congregate at the bar. The thin-crust pizza (served on
an elevated platter) is good (choose from a few prearranged pies
or build your own), the spicy steamer clams have a loyal following,
and the brews (also available to go by the jug) are tasty and
inventively named. Service is friendly and familiar. An ordained
minister is on-site for those who want to tie the knot; the "shrine"
consists of empty bottles and cans collected over the past 90
years. Your (reasonable) bill comes with fortune cookies, if you're
less ready to commit.
